Composting Community

Leave the leaves! This is a phrase used by a lot of gardeners. However we know that in a forest leaves will remain undisturbed and eventually embed into the forest floor as a complex material thriving with micro-organisms to create a rich soil. However in your yard, they will blow away and clog up city drains or your neighbors window wells. We have a better idea for them.

How much food does the average USA family waste each day? How much of the food you see above will get eaten? When cooking you will most likely peel the potato and carrots, cut the tops off the zucchini and tomatoes and throw them out or in your garbage disposal, this is considered food waste. How about using them for compost? Let us show you how.

Did you know coffee grounds are a source of nitrogen, which most of the soil in our city is found to depleted in. Let us show you how to use these to not only make your soils nitrogen rich but also create a natural worm farm that is far superior to any chemical fertilizers on the shelves.

This Earth Day and Arbor Day we encourage you and your families to attend one of many celebrations in Spokane and Spokane Valley. April 18-25th at various locations and times.
